Hospice Care
Hospice Services Provide Assistance for Terminally Ill Patients and Their Families.
We are honored to provide hospice care to the residents of Whitman County in Washington and Latah County in Idaho. Our team of professionals and trained, caring volunteers provide comfort and support for terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice staff and volunteers offer a specialized knowledge of end-of-life care including pain & symptom management. Hospice care neither prolongs life nor hastens death. Instead, the goal of hospice care is to improve the quality of a patient's last days by enhancing comfort and dignity. Hospice services include:
- Pain and symptom management
- Personal care services
- Phone support provided by a nurse is available 24 hours per day
- Grief support for family members
- Short-term respite care, as needed
- Companionship and other services by trained volunteers
- Short-term hospitalization for crisis
- Spiritual and psychological support responsive to individual needs and desires
- Therapy services as needed
- In most cases, the medications, medical supplies, and medical equipment related to the terminal illness are covered.
Friends of Hospice Supports our Community. Won't You Support Them?
We will bill Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance for Hospice Services. However, these payments do not generally cover all of the costs of care. Please consider the Friends of Hospice for memorials and other financial support.
